I came here on July 25th for opiate addiction, and was discharged on August 5th. The staff are incredible, and the activities you are required to do are extremely beneficial. To anyone downing the facility, you were there for the wrong reasons. You are assigned a room mate, normally they're pretty decent. I wasn't in there with anyone that was unpleasant to be around. You are in meetings for a large part of the day, but you have plenty of time to shoot shit on the smoking porch and get to know everyone. The staff are all recovering addicts, all very easy to relate to and connect with. The sleeping schedule takes some getting used to, and the food is surprisingly good with the new crew they brought into the kitchen. If you're on your way here, don't worry. You'll hear this a lot, but it gets better. Just get in with the right people and everything will be just fine.

Softcore prison is what I call Bradford. I had a fairly short stay there and it was miserable. The daily schedule consisted of approx. 10-12 hours of group meetings all in the same room, 3 bad meals and 4 or 5 blood pressure checks. Any "free time" between group meetings was spent sitting on my bed staring out the window. There was absolutely nothing else to do. The only time this schedule deviated was when we went outside once a week to play volleyball for about an hour. It was like going to the same AA meeting 5 or 6 times a day for approx. 2 hours at a time. Every aspect of Bradford seemed to be made as cheap as possible so they could make more money. There were fewer staff members there on weekends so they just kept residents holed up in group meetings for 3 hours at a time instead of 2. Residents have to use payphones to make any calls. DO NOT go to Bradford for opiate detox! You'd be more comfortable going cold turkey at home. I watched residents leave in ambulances b/c of dehydration from vomiting and diarrhea brought on by withdrawals. This place is miserable. Find somewhere else to go. Anywhere.

I have been to Bradford and its a decent place. However, I am a student at a place called In Triumph in Florence, Texas. Its a Christian program for ages ranging from about 18- 24 year old young men and women. It has great biblical teaching and is free of charge. (512) 489-2530

The nurses were my lifesaver once I was admitted. They immediately recognized the severity of my condition & brought me out emergency doses of medication. The CA's, however, during the length of my stay made no effort to comunicate with me, which left me feeling isolated...like the proverbial red-headed stepchild. Also, I didn't get to see the Dr till two days after admission. I was in undescribable physical agony, and it is no exxageration I genuinely believed I would die in this facility.

The staff at the facility seems very competent, however, after 6 days of treatment that told my wife our insurance company would not pay and that I would have to pay or come and get her. I'm not sure that is appropriate for them to do to someone trying to beat addiction. Bradford doesn't seem to want to live up to their own advice, which step 1 is to get the patient into a safe and secure environment. The head Dr. stated my wife should have been in out patient instead of in patient, even though her own staff are the ones who HIGHLY recommended in patient treatment. While I think their program is good watch out for the old "bait and switch," recovery is worth it but if they won't help with the insurance company it is very expensive.
