My son recently completed their 90 day program. I for one seen the change in him. He is clean and looking forward to staying that way. I don't know what would have happened to him had he not located their program and followed through it to the end.

IVRS is a residential addiction treatment community based around the 12-steps. In some ways it is better than cognitive-based models. However, their model is frozen in the 1980's with outdated notions of codependency, a term that has fallen out of favor as a pop psychology concept. For example, they've told clients that any loving relationship with an addict is "codependent." They also teach the concept of family "roles." Ideas like this have no empirical evidence whatsoever. The whole organization is run by substance abuse professionals who are former addicts, so the place tends to be run more like a prison where the "prison wardens" talk down to clients. They also break confidentiality by talking to Social Services about clients simply because they pay for services. I recommend MFI Recovery instead because it is more up-to-date and based on advances in theory and research and integrates the perspectives of different disciplines.
