In my first week receiving treatment here, I've seen a mixture of the very good and the very bad. My counselor, "L", is a very nice lady--very empathetic, and seems genuinely concerned with helping me get clean. She was actually initially hesitant to recommend I be put on methadone given my past history of being able to get clean without it. To me, this shows that they aren't just in it for the money. Also, the nurse who gave me my "COWS" assessment was very nice and knowledgeable. However, IMO, where this place fails disastrously is in the "doctor department". The "physician" who evaluated me, "Dr. R", was entirely unprofessional. His general demeanor suggests that he suffers from some form of autism. Not that this is necessarily a bad thing--many autistic folks make excellent doctors if they are passionate about their work. But I would be seriously surprised if this guy could pass an undergraduate exam on addiction or pharmacology cold. Also, he actually YELLED at another Dr or nurse about having to work after hours while I was being examined! I mean, seriously, try to picture this: I'm in this guy's office, and he's actually whining about having to be there! Oh well, in any case, if I end up getting clean, I suppose I will leave with an overall favorable opinion of this clinic.

I have been going for about two months now and I can truley say that this program has saved my life and my chance at a stable job and going back to school. I know that a lot of people seem to think that this facility is lacking in a number of ways, but the truth is without it Im now sure where I would be today.

I spend almost 700 dollars a month there(my wife and I) and we are both treated very poorly. I know if I spent that much at any other Doctors office I would be treated very good and I feel they treat us like this cause why we are there. The rules don't apply to everyone it seems like they make some rules on a person to person basis.

The facility itself is pretty clean. However, some of the patients that are being treated here; really need to practice better grooming skills. I understand that some folks are poor, and cannot afford new clothes, but there is no excuse for not taking a shower. So, its no mystery why the cops hang out all over the surrounding neighborhood, waiting to pull people over who have just left the clinic. Most of the staff are decent people who have a job to do. But; on Sat and Sun the place is not efficient at all. This is because the hours of operation. Its only open for a few hrs on these days; so the facility gets overcrowded in a hurry. And , of course you have those folks who dont shower, and the noise level gets intolerable. DO NOT take your kids with you, unless you want to expose them to some real seedy conversations. If you need help gettin off opiates; then this is your place to go. But dont expect to be treated like a "patient". Expect to be treated like a number. And... whatever you do; DO NOT expect to get any sort of financial assistance from this place. They will NOT work with you in any way. Be sure that you can afford the daily dosing fee, cuz they will flat out deny you unless you have the cash. To sum it all up: the place is very un-friendly from a patient stand-point. But it all boils down to.... a person wouldnt have to seek treatment, if they wouldnt have abused drugs in the first place. And believe me; this is exactly how you will be treated.

This place saved my life, seriously. If you follow all the rules, (of which there are many) I guarantee your life will go back to normal. The reason people commit crimes when addicted to opiates is not an insane desire to get high. When you withdrawl from opiates you experience symptoms as though it were the worst stomach flu you ever had, and it doesn't go away for weeks or months. Anyone with such a flu would get pretty desperate for a cure if they knew one was out there. Methadone stops the withdrawl without making you high. All you neigh sayers are either idiots who are pissed off at the clinic for imposed sanctions as a result of breaking their rules, or conservative bible thumpers who have no business commenting on what you do not understand. And the first thing they do is check for benzodiazapam drugs, so little mr. xanax would never have been given enough to o. d. on until he tested clean. They, benzos, stay in your system for 3 weeks. So your idiot overdosed son, if he ever existed at all, did not get his drugs here. Check your own medicine cabnet. Crime would plummet and productivity take it's place if there were more access to this wonderful program.
