Our daughter was a patient here several times. She was what they call a "frequent flyer" and MM saved her life over and over. The facility is old but the staff is compassionate and know what they're doing. No, it isn't a facility like "Passages" where they charge 80grand a month, but it is safe, clean and helpful. Our daughter was living on the streets at one point...and was happy to have a comfortable bed, clean room and privacy. The food was good and healthy according to her. She wanted to get clean on multiple occasions and she did. Relapse is part of recovery and you can't blame a treatment center for your relapse but she is doing much better now and I think MM staff impacted her positively. She still talks about the wonderful staff there. There aren't many affordable treatment programs in the area, even though drug addiction rates are alarmingly high We had to pay a lot of out of pocket expenses but the finance people worked with us and were great. Please keep an open mind about this place. It's old. They don't coddle you-they're strict and you have to earn privileges but if you're sincere about recovery-it is fantastic. They care. They're knowledgable. "Tough love" works but it isn't all about that. They want success. Our daughter would be dead if it weren't for them. If you want help-they open their hearts and they have the medical help to make it a comfortable process.

Don't expect the comforts of home - this is a bare bones, tough love place. The counselors have been there, seen that, heard it all. Nobody will coddle you - not the counselors, nurses, security, nobody. So don't bother complaining. Do the program, which is basically lectures, groups, meetings, 1 hr free time, all day from 7 am until 9 pm weekdays, and suck it up. The only thing to do in between or in free time, at least for females, is smoke. No offense but his is a very redneck area and like 99% of the patients smoke as well as several Nurses and counselors. But no vaping and if you bring nicotine gum, they will dole it to you like medication. I personally thought the food was horrible but some of the counselors ate it when they clearly had other choices, so who knows. You can't have any reading material unless it's addiction related, no cell phones or other electronics, personal items like scissors or nail files, and no food of your own. If you have money, they go to the store twice a week and you can order the stuff you are allowed like....Cigarettes! But if you stick with it, this can work. I went here to get off prescription paid meds and methadone and felt so crappy while there I was pretty much just putting one foot in front of the other to get through each day. But after a couple weeks, with the repetitive nature of the program, I was believing and internalizing their message. Completed the program after 3 weeks (they have a very nice separation ceremony if you complete it) and felt like a new person. Note: Don't get involved in the drama and gossip that goes on with the patients. And don't trust anyone, as some will steal your stuff, like money or phone cards. But I guess that's typical of any treatment place. You are allowed a 10 min. phone call every other day, but of course some people monopolized the phones. Visiting day is Sunday. Visitors must attend a 1 hour lecture before visiting you.

This place is a nightmare. I was at this rehab for a total of 8 days and it was one of the worst experiences i've ever had, and the fact that I had to suffer through detox and withdrawal through it still gives me literal nightmares. I got here with high hopes but as soon as I saw it looked like a trailer park with these chump security guards with attitudes I lost all hope. It's an abandoned hotel. The staff was so bad and it created an overall hostile feeling of patients. Our room had holes in the wall and I had to go through opiate withdrawal with damp sheets on a damp bed in a room that always smelled like either a foot or a fart. Walk into the nurses station if you go here and act kind they'll look at you like they want to rip your head off. I don't know how businesses work but my guess is this is one of those companies where the man upstairs makes piles of dough and they underpay their staff which makes everyone miserable. Not one person there wanted to help or do their job. The Counselors were awful.

I was a self pay at this facility. We had people running away every day because of their program. The rooms were disgusting the facility was awful. They should be ashamed to call this a treatment facility more like a rat trap. If you care about a family member or friend do not send them here. This program is awful. The place should be condemned. I plan on calling the building inspector for Frederick County asap.

I received excellent care at Mountain Manor Emmitsburg. The outside appearance is a bit scary on the outside but like they say its whats on the inside that counts. I found of the staff to be compassionate but not push y overs. I think that people who aren't ready to make changes make enemies and bad guys out of those who try to confront. Thank God someone had the courage to confront my sickness. Over all I would recommend this facility to anyone who is ready to start living not continuing to exist.

I just got out of the New Horizon (after prison treatment program). I was there for 7 months and it truly was the best thing that has ever happened to me! I learned better communication skills, the importance of AA/NA programs, helping others, support, keeping emotions in check, how to recognize relapse warning signs & defense mechanisms, the importance of healthy relationships and so much more. I met some of the greatest women there and some genuine & caring counselors. I am truly blessed to have had this opportunity!!! It was very difficult, but I have learned so much. Just had to hang in there and I'm so glad that I did. Thanks everybody at Mountain Manor Treatment Center, esp. The New Horizon Program. You all had more faith in me than I had at myself. All my love/respect/appreciation.

This place is a jumbled mess. I was not properly informed before going about my methadone detox. The Dr and Nurse Practitioner are a joke. They have one size fits all mentality regarding detox. Counseling staff are the worst I have seen. Too many AA and NA nazis for me. I went because i was tired of being in a methadone program, where I was CLEAN for 5 years. They made me feel like the gutter junkie i used to be. SERIOUSLY STAY AWAY

I found this facility to be extremely helpful. I love the fact that the counselors are in recovery themselves. The population I was with were very demanding and entitled. I've been to several treatment centers....that were much more "luxurious", but when you are ready to get clean and sober, you're ready. Would recommend to anyone.

Infested with bed bugs. If you stay clean after leaving mountain manor then it was because you were already commited to quitting. There is no help from counseling. Counselors were good at name calling, yelling and threatening. Im still clean after being discharged eight months ago. Mountainmanor was simply a dirty, moldy room to go thru withdrawal. Dr Curley was in charge of the medical department and she refused to even speak with the patients. She had to be given notes. Crazy

Terrible treatment center . Went there and I was not even there for a week it was so bad . They are not organized at all . The group programs were bad , they had no clue what to even say or how to give adivce to us addicts . I'm now 9 months clean from drugs and mind altering substances , because I went to Pathways in annapolis . I was inpatient at Mountain Manor , the rooms had rats , and the showers were discusting . The staff obviously are not trained and are former addicts . Their were kids bringing in drugs , smuggling them in their bodys and they were not caught . DO NOT LET YOUR ADOLECENT GET HELP HERE , it honestly is not a good way to start a path of soberity , take it from personal experience .
