I attended path of hopes 28 day program. Upon completing the 28 day treatment, i decided to go into the path of hope halfway house. I was lead to believe it was a halfway house, which later i found out it was a residental treatment center , a long term residental treatment center. I have been diagnosed with reaccuring major depressive disorder and post traumatic stress. Upon arriving at the path of hope i had a treament team that worked with me and provided all the much needed services i required. Once moving into the residental treatment center. My treatment team and the staff and myself sat down and disscussed my treatment. The path of hope assured my treatment team that they could provide me with all my treatment needs. Which included transportation all my scheduled mental health appointment as well as health care appointments. A few days later i was informed by the staff that i would not be provided transportation to my out of town appointments. Which left my health care appointments unattended to. In which the previous treatment team provided transportation to all scheduled appointments. After a period of time my stay there became complex. Because the staff was not properly trained in addressing mental health issues, and did not understand that reoccuring means it can occur at anytime. During my stay there i experienced a traumatic occurance, when one of the ladies had to leave. This sent me into my depressive mode. At which time the staff deemed as a attitude and was allowed to address me in any manner they saw neccessary, along with other clients in the facility. They disgused this as "stepping on your toes" While staying there the staff and i exchanged joking comments, which later was addressed as my being cynical. Due to the fact that i was experencing my depression and the uneducated staff view that as "attitude" i was discharged from the program. At which time i was given a period of time to vacate the facility. Due to the fact i was a distance from home and called for transportation at short notice it required a lenghty period for me to vacate the premisis. It was extended much to the dismay of one employee, who was more than happy to provide me transportation to the local homeless shelter. Dropping me and my belongings off. Due to the fact that the staff not only have a working relationship, they also have a close net relationship outside the job. It is my hope that in the future the staff become better trained in providing services to those with dual diagnosis. Major changes occuring at the spare of a moment for those with substance as well as mental disorders can lead to a setback. I do not feel i recieved the apporiate care . Thank God that i do have those in my life that truly care. Of course the facility wants to serve those that have no sense of daily activities needed to perform to take care of thierselves. Do i reccomend this long term treatment facility to those with awareness of thier surroundings, absolutely not. I hope that in the future they become educated in providing services to future clients.

I attended Path of Hope for 10 of a 28 day treatment program before being asked to leave. The reasoning for my being asked to leave was said to be because my problem was not deemed serious enough to warrant that kind of treatment regardless of what a previous assessment said. My believe for being asked to leave is the fact that I did not like the idea of me joining a halfway house, which after this discussion i was asked to leave on the same day with 0 warning. I was told to pack my bags where i was dropped off at a homeless shelter 3hrs away from my home with no transportation, cell phone or money where i stayed for 2 days before finally getting in contact with someone who could retrieve me. This place DOES NOT care about its clients only about the money its receives. I highly suggest avoiding this place AT ALL COSTS. The only bright side about my whole encounter was Dave, the daytime house councelor. He was a great person to talk to in helping me with my problems. I seriously wish he ran this place.
