There is no longer a sliding scale fee. Many people are losing medical assistance and then get kicked out because they can't afford the 110/week it costs. I have been going there just over 5years. My biggest complaint is they cant keep counselors. I am on my 4th counselor and I feel my current counselor doesn't always pay attention. I admitted to a relapse on iv drugs and 2 weeks later, this counselor sounded surprised I was shooting drugs...this made me wonder how much they care if they don't pay attention to what I say. I also had a great counselor there who helped me with a lot before they left. I just wonder sometimes if this program is really to help people improve their quality of life through harm reduction or if they are more concerned about money.

I am only one of the people that have been thrown out of this program by a councilor who falsified drug tests to say they were positive when they weren't. Even when I got transfered the doctor at discovery house said they had no reason to throw me out. The doctor at Aldie was the nastiest woman I've ever met, I regularly saw patients leaving her office in tears and the director doesn't seem to care one bit. BE PREPARED IF YOU SIGN ON TO THIS CLINIC!!!

Overall a good place to go. Its in a good part of town. There is sometimes a lack of communication between staff which sometimes makes things hard. One person could schedual you in for one date, but they will forget to tell everyone else so when you come in for your appointment youre spot was filled by someone else and you must reschedual and wait another week. Very annoying. Just stay on top of them and make sure you clarify and confirm all of your appointments everytime you get a schedualed appointment.

Cannot believe this facility does not offer methadone weaning. Patients go in and say they feel like their gonna use so they get even higher doses. Now they cater to pregnant Mothers who have addicted Babies that are painfully and sometimes fatally harmed during their weaning process. The Mother gets to continue her dose for years after upping their doses becoming so overweight and lazy they are almost comatose and ends up leaving their Children unsupervised while they sleep all day. It's criminal that they allow people to trade one addiction for another without any responsibility to actually getting the Patient off the drug at all. These Mothers bring their half dressed, half asleep Children with them to "dose" very early in the morning then drive them home! Once home kids on its own because Mom is falling asleep or eating in a comatose state. If you going to put them on it make sure you ween them off of it within a years time! It's abuse and cannot Believe its even allowed by the Dept of health and safety not to mention Children and Youth. It's sick!
