If I could give zero stars, I would. Taking in a patient with severe anxiety attacks and ptsd from an assault, placing him on a ward with violent, screaming patients, and doing nothing to help aside from saying "oh, it will calm down". Giving out the wrong meds at the wrong times, including trying to give him someone else's meds. I guess that happens when there is one med nurse for four wards. Giving the patient Adderall when he already can't sleep, and is on meds to help him do so. When the patient is hiding in his closet, crying, terrified of coming out, asking "are you okay",one might not just simply accept "yes" as an answer. Taking a day and a half to get the meds he is supposed to have every 8 hours. Making the visitation hours so strict and sparse that it effectively removes the support system from the patient, if those people don't work a 9-5 job. When asking about any exceptions, the response being "Nope. I guess you just can't visit." Staff watching the patient slide into a corner and break down, audibly asking for help and going back to reading their, what appeared to be homework. To say that the level of "care" there was the absolute worst I have ever seen in my life would be far too kind.

Worst, most invalidating experience of my life. I was frequently given other patients medications; saw a therapist only once, for 15 minutes, in the entire 7 days I was there (I was told this was normal protocol for their facility)... Ignored heavily by staff... And often the only thing going on on the unit, was the watching of old VHS movies that had nothing to do with therapy. Therapy groups were rarely ran. Doctors are rarely available. The communication is non existent! If you care about yourself or your loved one, go to UNI (University Neuropsychiatric Institute) instead. I am certain you will be treated with a great level of respect in their facility.
