Inclement Weather Transportation of Dialysis Patients

Inclement Weather Transportation of Dialysis Patients
Details:

I am very concerned that due to the inclement weather there were several dialysis patient that was unable to receive treatment. This concerns me because these treatments are life and death situations for the individuals. American Renal Associates was the only organization that did not provide care for their patients during the inclement weather. I watch FOX5 News and DaVita another well known Dialysis Center not only was soliciting four wheel drives to get their patients to their Centers for treatment, but also provided a list of names of individuals receiving care in their facilities to the city. Is one organization is willing to make sure that their patients are taken care of during inclement weather, shouldn't other facilites feel the same way. I am familiar with the medical field and am aware that hospitals often provide overnight sleeping arrangements for their staff, is this not a policy that the American Renal Associates has to ensure that their patients receive the best care possible. I think that it is awful that due to inclement weather patients were not treated and when contacting the facilities were told that they are free to come in, but the facility could not provide transportation for them. All the money that the facilities are receiving for the treatment of these patients, I think some of the funds should be invested in a rainy day fund to hire individuals with four wheel drives during inclement weather to make sure that their patients receive treatment. I will be contacting the appropriate parties to confirm that the appropriate procedures will be taken in the future.
