Coming from Bloomington myself this has my curiosity started. I preseume they are related tyo a recipe brought to Bloomington by early settlers the Gideon Pond family. Could you please inform me? oh, BTW, if your loved one arrives at the Dexter House and has some very important medicines to take in the next 12 to 24 hours...better make sure YOU have them... they do not seem to care if you need something right away...like a blood thinner (injectable "Bridge" to oral)... the nurse will just say..."well, we don't keep that in stock, and the pharmacy will have to bring it ...they should be here later..." (LATER being operative word here...anyone out there know about timing of certain meds???)

Golden Living Center Glenwood Discussion by Anonymous

My great grandmother who was always a pretty plump lady her whole life also lost drastic weight as the other review here states. She looked dirty, unkept and was barely coherent because they gave her so many pills that she slept all day and every time my grandmother and I would arrive she would be in bed, not knowing what time of the day it was or what month and it just broke my heart to see her in such bad condition. I don't recommend this place to anyone. My great-grandmother even lost her mobility while in this place because she was in bed all day on lots of pain pills they were giving her to sleep and even for a headache!! Absolutely absurd to me. We took her out of there and now she lives with my Grandma and Papa. She's off all narcotic pain pills, she now walks on her walker by herself to the bathroom and down the halls which is a huge improvement from before! I'm just thankful she's doing so good now.

Golden Living Center Moorhead Discussion by Anonymous

- Details:
They tried to give my mother the wrong medications twice. She waited too long for help to the bathroom and then waited too long after she soiled herself. The hall and some of the residents reek of urine, the place is very filthy. The staff are inept and did not introduce themselves nor show badges. They yell down the length of the hallways to one another. There were no cover sheets to hide patient records from the eyes of passerby. We saw a topless woman with her door and window coverings wide open. My mother’s bed did not function properly and would not lift to accommodate her. The staff told her to sleep in the sitting position! Also at physical therapy in the afternoon, one of the staff was asleep at the desk while I was awkwardly left to deal with wandering residents. This place is an absolute disaster and should be shut down!!!

Golden Living Center Northside Discussion by Anonymous

Where to begin?! Mothers food. She eats less than fifty percent of any meal if she eats it at all. Her complaints are teh same as others in the residence.I know this because I have spoken to family members and those residents who communicate with me.Food is at best lukewarm at times ,in the dinnig room and room temp to cold when a tray needs to be brought to the residents floor. In order for mother not to recieve barbeque sauce she has been given a "tomato alergy" status by the dinning room.I have gone to th deli nearby orderd her food and brought it back and it is still hotter than what is served from the kitchen less than ten feet from her table.
Mothers roommate bless her heart is constantly in mothers cards letters and pesonal hygene supplies. The roomaate will takethe elastic bands that are to hold up my mothers leg pouch for her foley and use them as head bands. I personally have found the bed side bag for mothers foley still hanging at the foot of the bed with 700cc of urine still in the bag ant the tubeing uncapped no aseptic tecnique used at all. Pain management is a problem. Her orders for Lortab are prn. One is for 1 every four hours as need , the other is for two every four hours a needed. Depending one whe is on duty she mor often gets one then is offerd tylenol if there is no relief. The Dr.incharge of her health care since her addmission has stated he no longer want to handle her treatment stateing that my sister andmy mother have not accepted mothers condition and can not wor with a lack of trust and fear of repriasl. My sisters question was at whaat point during a pts. pain dose the nurse decide to call the doctor. We have even asked if it is possible to give her a ruotine pain med.
This is only a glance at my concerns and worries Ron Kish

my dad is a patient at the Golden Living of North side, 5470 Meridian Mark, and the nursing staff is great with him, and i see them on the halls talking nicely to other patient's. But they are not being treated well by the management i can see that they look scare when the management is on the floor walking around. I had hear comments like" Who are they looking for now?"it makes me upset,my dad he would never get better care any were else i am sure but he is going home and i would not have a peaceful conscience looking at this scenario of apprehensive nursing staff."

These people are a joke, don't make two hour rounds, left wet or feeces on them for six hours, mold in some rooms, go in with a little pinkish bottom and gets worse from not changing or sitting for to long and not getting rotating while in bed, very bad communication between workers, don't dare ask a question to the staff, cause they don't know. Don't know how this place hasn't closed down, this is a for profit by many owners, very low ratings, but one of the places she was accepted because of insurance, only bad ones will accept you if you have Medicare or Medicaid if I was healthy enough I'd bring her home, please do not put your loved one at golden living

The statistics provided on this site and on Medicare.gov which are even higher and mup to date support observations that long-stay patients lose bladder control, ability to move, and ability to function. For patients under 65 who are merely incapacitated, not incompetent, this is a prison sentence to diapers and immobility- and will degrade the health of younger patients creating additional medical problems as the patient ages. Immobilizing an incapacitated patient who can move makes no medical sense.

I am 58 yrs old. I was clean for 16 years except for back problems, vicodin prescribed all these years.... as result of auto accident, work accident, total loss of hearing while at work... I went into total failure of liver and kidney then pancreantitus (spelling) coma, woke up after being given 1 percent chance of life. While on disability my boss fired me and I started drinking smart thing to do right. I have looked all over. Blood pressure 190 over 100. Children and grandchildren still need me. I cannot do a detox without it being medically assisted. I will always have to have pain killers for back as it is no longer operable, arthiritis set in and limits movement now. But I have to kick the alcohol. I called in May and June. I was told only labs were needed to get me in, but my doctor instead sent in a referral. I understand you cannot send me the requirements, they got directly to doctor then if labs meet your approval I can get a ten day medical detox. I have blue cross. I need to do this NOW. please please help. Dr. Gulessarian (559) 439-5757 fax (559) 437-3943. I am deaf. Daughter Leslie Ramos (559) 213-6643 She has called twice for me in these last months. If I can quit the booze I can think again. I am not stupid, just deaf and impaired, and insurance will run out soon. I can't find the phone number we called last as owner of home I rent demanded I move out all belongings so she could renovate....what was suppose to be three days has been four months now. You are my hope. My text (cell phone) is (559) 273-2231 email cgoldengreen@aol.com but I am having problems with computer its as old as I am

My husband has been on large amounts of pain killers for the past 10 years, following a terrible car accident. The drugs no longer take care of his pain and because he can never get enough he is now in constant withdrawal. He desperately wants off of the meds. Feels like his original pain is probably manageable now. The withdrawals are so severe that he often contemplates ending it all. I'm a desperate wife. I've heard that some doctors will admit you to a hospital and medically detox you. This sounds like the safest way to me. Please let me know if Good Samaritan can help my husband. He is disabled and on Medicare only. Does good Samaritan work with Medicare. Please won't someone help!
