Admited to ER for staff infection in leg. An hour before seen, 5 minutes with doctor. They gave me a tetnus shot & wrote a perscription for some antibiotics that did not work (how about taking a culture guys?) Had to go to my family physician again to get the right meds. Long story short~~ 5 minutes in the ER, a tetnus shot & a quickly scribbled perscription for meds that would do nothing but kill the normal flora of my intestines equals bills totaling $1200. That of course being because we had lost our health care! by their own admission~~ they admit that they inflate charges to the uninsured to make up for the deep discounts they have to give the insurance companies! A year ago~~ when we did have BCBS, this bill would have been a $35 deductable out of my pocket and a $45 bill to BCBS! But in Hartselle Medical's minds~~ "you bums" who can't afford the $1200 a month for your health insurance are GOING TO PAY THROUGH THE NOSE!
