The feel is of a place where only the down and out go for services, and for some reason your care is subject to if you are someone or a 'reject' - and I only use that word because they do treat you so poorly there and in the ER they talk about you in the station like the staff are in the HS cafeteria.

With the new hospital in Monroeville, PA, I now do not need to ever go there. I would give their ER a zero (0) if it allowed, a (0) to their orthopedics, and obvious (0) for their cardiology and leadership which is in the news, and they have nothing for children. I have never found a current physician there who is listed as a top physician. Their diagnostic services would get a negative number. They have missed so much I lost count and I plan to always get another opinion. I do drive 20 miles just because it is a waste to go there. They just have DO's who are new, or they use PA's as physicians and don't inform you. A lot of rude staff in power positions. Worst, and they should get cited for this, but they have privacy issues. Not only do they not pull curtains, but the staff, and this includes the high ranking staff, talk about patients as if no one is listening. A NP in the ER rudely said to a nurse (and this has happened twice to me) it is one of those in for one for more then one thing types. They rolled their eyes and treated me like I was a drug seeker and I was just in for an infection in two places. Again, with no curtain pulled and their sitting at a computer with their backs to me but 4 treatment rooms could hear. I felt like an animal, and since they get a lot of homeless and drug seekers and people with no other place to go (no cars), I just wanted to leave as soon as possible. It was embarrassing, and professionals should never treat patients like they are cattle. Furthermore, I do think their is a reason why even their staff do not want to be there. The culture of the place is just very negative and poor. How do you get better when the mood is so I do not want to be here across the board. I stopped going there when they missed a broken bones on my son and then did not even have a splint for him. I went to Children's then where I was told that the splint I had to come back to get was not the correct one for his size or the location of the fracture. The have a marketing/PR dept I think, but ask locals who are educated and we all go elsewhere.

This seems more like a clinic or nursing home than a hospital. No cutting edge medicine here. Just PA's and DO's that could not find employment at a top hospital. Even spoke to a rare MD there who stated that DO's have taken over the place and he was leaving too because he could not practice good care there for some reason. Scary!

Only a hospital if you do not know enough to go to Pittsburgh. Their ER and diagnostic services missed multiple broken bones on my and my son's visit, and they have you see nurses or PA's without tell you they are not physicians. They do not even have a unit for children! The current physicians are underachievers, and mostly DO's; it seems like deception. Most cover for one another and the facility itself is dirty, smelly, and a holding tank for people without insurance or a car to get elsewhere. A highly touted MD cannot be found. I hate this place, and FB comments show a true picture of how locals feel about this place. It is C- medicine or medicine from 1980.

Many admissions for surgeries and medical care. I was well taken care of. I was a Quality Assurance Nurse in Boston before I moved here. This is a better hospital than the hospitals I was admitted to in Boston.
