Details:

My Mother was pt there for one month and during that time she received some of the worse care I have ever witnessed as a health professional. She fell in this facility and sustained a neck fracture. She also was hospitalized once for dehydration. I still can figure out how someone becomes dehydrated in an air conditioned facility with 24 hour staffing. The didn't really provide any rehabilitation service for her. She does have dementia but as professionals I felt they should know ways to engage all types of patients. I finally had enough and brought her home. She was up walking with assistance in 3 days. She wasn't incontinent and started to her gain weight back. All this after they said she would never walk again and was in end stage of her disease. I can't in good conscience recommend this facility to anyone. The person that recommend the facility to me can barely look me in my eyes these days. But it is not her fault and I don't fault her but she is just so bothered by the fact that she is the person that brought the facility to my attention and I really respected her opinion as a medical professional who has had contact with the facility. The actual building and rooms are pretty nice compared to some I visited but the nurse care was the worse. The therapist were competent but unfortunately not skilled enough to be able to work with patients who are not text book rehab patient. I am not a therapist if I could have my mother walking, using the bathroom and assisting with her activities of daily living and have no training as a physical or occupational therapist why couldn't they.

I chose Crofton Care and Rehab for my mother after she had her stroke. She had a lot of anxiety about staying in a facility even if it were short-term. I felt guilty leaving her there over night. When I came in her room the next day a nursing assistant was in the room with my mother holding her hand. The staff member said she had been in the room with her for an hour because my mother was a little upset I wasn't around. I was very touched that the staff took the time to make sure my mother felt safe and secure when I could not be around. I was most impressed with how much the facility valued their residents overall well-being. There was always activity programs running throughout the building, as well as special meals and pets on wheels. I couldn't be happier with the care my mother received. I have had several friends and neighbors who have used Crofton's services for various needs. I would recommend this facility to anyone.
