I was a Margaret's House in summer 2015. The staff - eh. The counselors were definitely rude and the blonde one was mean, not even in recovery and thus did not seem to understand anything. Newsflash: a book can't teach you how this works... therefore your degree means nothing to me. However the night staff and the cook were pretty cool. The house is not very nice, and it's very small. AKA no personal space a lot of the time. Some people on here are saying that Margaret's House changed their life? Doubt it. I honestly can't see that. Me and a couple of the other women that I was there with relapsed. Also- they recommend 6 months of in-house treatment? LOL. NOOOO way. At the end of my month things were already so repetitive and just.. the same! I can't imagine 6 months there. Oh and I gained a ton of weight. You don't have any opportunity for exercise and the food is classic Minnesota fatty so look forward to gaining weight.

I had absolutely no idea what to expect, and I'm so grateful to the staff there. From the very first phone call, they were extremely empathetic, comforting and helpful. Being there for 30 days changed my life in the best possible way! I learned so much, felt safe in sharing, the food was great, and the staff always had your best interest at heart! I didn't want to leave, it was a very comfortable, intimate, safe environment. I would highly recommend Margaret's House to anyone and everyone who suffers from addiction/alcoholism/co-occurring disorders/dual diagnosis.

There are a lot of good rehabs out there, Margaret's House is not one of them. None of the counselors but one are in recovery, which means they are for the most part pretty contemptuous of their clients/patients. They try to be helpful until their patient's insurance runs out. Keep in mind that this rehab is just one part of a VERY for-profit company. A guy in recovery decided to make his living off the backs of fellow addicts. All in all, this is not the place that will help you get clean. They will get you clean and sober until you have no more money or insurance, then they don't care that much.

This center was perfect for individual treatment. with only 10 beds and rotating staff, you got the treatment you deserved on an individual basis. anything that was needed was provided. The food was excellent as it is home made if you are a vegetarian or vegan, food will be made specifically for you. the girls I met became my family for the duration of my treatment. The staff are kind and willing to help you at anytime. Spending the holidays at Margret's house? No worries. at Margret's house? The staff makes the holidays feel like your at home. Don't celebrate? That's okay too. You don't have to participate if you don't want to. Margret's house is perfect if you need that one on one care. Its not too big or too small, and they guide you in becoming sober and staying sober with individual assignments that fit your situation. Margret's house changed my life and will change yours too.
