Alina Lodge is fabulous. The program saved my mother's life in 1982 and has saved by daughter's life in 2016/2017. I am in recovery and can verify that the skills and education the students receive promote a solid foundation for recovery upon completion of the program. People in addiction need time and education to learn how to navigate life without alcohol and drugs. I just completed family week with my daughter and was amazed at the quality of the staff, the program, the facility and the food. Every staff person knew my daughter and took the time to speak with me. The clinical director spent time with me and gave me the advice that I needed to let go. This is a rehab which tells the student and the family the truth. They get recovery in a profound way. Ignore the negative reviews, if you are serious about recovery and willing to go to any length to get clean and sober this is the rehab for you. My daughter was hijacked by drugs and alcohol for 5 years and Alina Lodge has returned her to sanity.

ALina Lodge cares and is only place after my daughter's ninth rehabilitation that saved her life. You got to do the work. Alina Lodges' staff are magicians and have the insights and knowledge it takes. It takes courage to get better and stay at Alina. But if you do...and listen you will live your life finally with joy and serenity. I would bow down to all their staff. The Family Program also saved my life. Don't hesitate. Addicts don't need swimming pools and massages ..they need to do the work ...recovery is serious. Heroin kills. Alina is the only place in the country that saves lives!! For long and long and long "time is their tincture"

I was in attendance at "The Lodge" for nearly a year. I was there after repeated attempts at other rehabs failed in my attempt to get sober from prescription drug abuse. I had a 30+ pill a day addiction on and off since 1976. The founder, who was 86 at the time was very much alive then and very much in charge. A nut job would be a convenient tag for her. She thought she WAS a god and many of the imbeciles around her, believed it as well. According to her idiocy, we could not have table sugar or carbs in excess because, get this, they turn to alcohol in our systems. Yep, she really believed it. And this was long before the Atkins Diet became the rage. The meals weren't bad, but our portions and quantities (like everything else) were severely limited. We couldn't get an aspirin or a Tylenol unless we had a fever of 101 or greater, so forget about any psychotropic medications for any co-exiting or co-morbid conditions i.e. anxiety, depression, etc. We couldn't have contact lenses (only glasses), no hair dryers, nor keep our nail clippers in our rooms. The clippers had to be used in the nurse's office, in the presence of one of the Star Wars Storm Trooper nurses. We had to stand like morons, facing backward on the scale, because we were not even allowed to see our own weight. My counselor, who is still employed at the Lodge, was a JOKE!! An absolute joke. He used to sit there, stoic, silent, and would crank open and closed his casement window - staring mindlessly at the grassy berm just outside his window. But when he wanted to appear even MORE BORED, he would open a file drawer in his desk, and literally flip through the manila folders, staring again at them, silent, always giving the impression of how superior he was. He did this with me and many of his other "counselees". This individual NEVER shared about his own recovery and never offered anything but criticism, negativity, and a totally arrogant demeanor. I would have gotten more from having had another counselor, but that was denied as my wanting an "easier, softer way". I would have gotten more from underwear inspector #43 for Fruit of the Loom. After a year almost to the day, I came out sicker than when I went in, not necessarily the Lodge's fault, but I never had the opportunity to discuss much of my past, and particularly the sinful and severe child abuse that I suffered from, and from the PTSD that was very much affecting me when I was there. My counselor said, "These things don't matter!", and never addressed them, despite my requests to work through them. Admittedly at the time, Alina Lodge was not an "issues" rehab, but a "wannabe" boot camp run by a crazy woman, and by many incompetents who never had the "B*LLS" to stand up to her and do the right thing. And therefore a lot of us spent a life savings or more, and months and months and more months not getting to the root of what was going on; nor getting the help we needed. After being thrown out of the Lodge, I stayed clean for nearly three years, but I used again, and was again terribly addicted. This was my own stupidity, selfishness and nobody's fault but mine. It seems I just wanted to use again, and I found many reasons (or NO good reasons at all) to pick up. Soon I was "off to the races" again. This went on until the summer of 1999 when I went to another detox/rehab in north Jersey where I had a REAL counselor (who actually KNEW what she was doing). I got clean there after a hell-on-earth detox experience, and went to south Florida to a half way house for a year. As of today, November 15, 2012, I have been clean and sober for over 13 years. I have my Higher Power, Sunrise House in north Jersey, my family, my former sponsor, and my hard work to thank for that. The only thing Alina Lodge did for me was provide fodder for a few chapters of my autobiography, and little else, but to galvanize the thought that I never want to put myself in a position of addiction again, where the only place for me would be a place like Alina Lodge.

An extrememly dangerous place

An extrememly dangerous place
Details:

This facility is extremely dangerous. Every employee is involved in some way with addictions, including all the so-called “professional” staff and medical doctors. If anyone questions their philosophy in anyway, there will be retaliation. They do not educate; they use cult tactics, manipulation and brainwashing. They use confrontational and domineering tactics. Their doctors have been either sanctioned, penalized or are retired. Just look them up online. Their staff are all addicts and will never be free because they are paranoid addicts who will always work at this place. They shame people, are punitive, rigid and blaming. One of the most damaging tactics used is seclusion. The family will be told that this is for the good of the patient. They will lie and use manipulation to persuade you not to believe this post. Your family member WILL, WITHOUT QUESTION stay at least a year. Another example of their lies: they will state you can have a tour of the facility, but once you arrive with the patient, you will be asked to leave without any tour, without any policy manuals, proof of licensing etc. THIS IS A CULT. They completely control the individual’s communication with the noncult or outside world. This enables domination of the patient. They control all sources of information: radio, TV, newspapers, letters from relatives and close friends are controlled or forbidden. They will tell you letter writing is allowed, but will control and forbid this within days or weeks of being admitted. They will lie about this procedure. Parents are eventually totally excluded from participation. The will lie about this as well. They create a new dependency – on their own program – so that the individual will see them as necessary to their survival. You are allowed only a one hour visit every 3 weeks alone with your family member, if you are lucky. This is a fact. They will definitely lie about this. They over-medicate to sedate the newcomer forcing them to believe that this is in their best interest because they need to “detox” even though the patient does not want or need the medications. Their entire, single purpose is to earn their fees. This is a business. These facilities are not regulated by any government entity, even though they state they are licensed. Try calling the Department of Health and see the run around you will get. Even though they have over 60 beds and treat patients with nurses and physicians, and feed the patients in-house, there is absolutely no safeguard by the Department of Health or any other regulating entity. The only license held by Alina is “pending” and is for educational purposes. The founder Geraldine O. Delaney called herself G.O.D. – her initials. She walked around and used a billy club and a paddle inscribed with GOD. She, herself, was an alcoholic for over half of her life, had no higher education, and has no college degree, even though she stated she went to college. She was divorced several times. She had no formal training relating to professional rehabilitation; accept touting herself because of her experience with her own addictions and several attempts at her own rehab. Folks, you had better do things their way or you will lose your family, all your money and any shot of ever helping your family member to recover, let alone survive and have any chance at living a life free from the Alina cult. Those who have managed to live through the experience at Alina Lodge do not know how sick they are because they have been subjected to the psychological trauma and torture used by Alina Lodge. The Lodge employees are brainwashed themselves and are self-centered, mentally obsessed, and are not qualified to work in this arena as they themselves are eternally affected and sick and need help. This is why Alina’s entire staff consists of addicts. This is a very dangerous place. And this is just the tip of the iceberg.
