Quality of care: Staff is overworked, do not expect an individualized program. 100% of the "care" is open group discussion. Do not sign anything without thouroughly reviewing it. Random drug tests are held everyday no excuses and you WILL BE BILLED $495 per test. The bills are never disclosed and won't start coming until after you complete the program.

Counsellors and supervisors who do not know the first thing about substance abuse and abusers. A counselor named aiden allowed another child to verbally assault my daughter when she was asked a question about weather or not she would quit smoking after rebab. The girl yelled at my daughter and questioned her answer and doubted my daughter and told her she would not be able to quit. Discouragement is far from helpful in the fragile state all substance abusers are in. Especially when the abuser is an emotional adolescent. If these counsellors were educated they would be considerate of this simple fact.

Seeing these negative reviews is disappointing. Having completed PHP and IOP recently, I can confidently say this program works if you want it to. Not to cast aspersions but my guess is everyone who said it didn't work didn't try hard enough. HF will give you the tools, it's up to you to do the work.

They make it utterly apparent they are just doing the minimum needed to get paid. No one ever discussed my personal treatment, or my personal recovery with me. They tell you there will be random drug screenings which means every day, but they never tell you the screens aren't apart of the agreed upon service fee. Coincidentally 3 days after completing the program I got $10,000 in bills from the laboratory, you think in 3 months someone would have given me a heads up about this. I would have been better off just going to AA and working a 12 step program. This was not worth the price of admission.

After only a 40minute session, my step son was told to leave his job, leave his school and get into their program for 2 1/2 months for a mere $13,000. I'm sorry, but why would you be told to remove the few positive things from your life as a first step in feeling better about yourself... Whomever this Dr. was that advised this, should maybe commit himself

I was at High Focus in 2014. I had not used marijuana for over thirty days before my first visit. My first drug screen showed positive,a "small amount". My second was negative, my third was"trace amounts". I have heard this from several people.False positives are serious, but staff will not acknowledge even the possibility. I would not recommend this facility.Overall the staff is arrogant.

I went for an evaluation for the psychiatric program because I was struggling with some severe depression and my therapist suggested an IOP program. When I mentioned that I was a medical marijuana patient the intake became about the use of my medicine. The clinician called my wife an enabler and stated I would not be allowed to use my medicine if I did the program. When I asked if they would allow me to take prescribed opioids they said that would be fine if my wife doled out my pills but that I could not have legally prescribed marijuana even if it was doled out to me. Finally when we received a bill from High Focus they charged us the negotiated discount with the insurance company as well. Cigna said we should owe $2 but HF charged me $148. My impression is that they are a bunch of small minded thieves.

I was a patient at HFC in Cranford for about 12 weeks. I hated it at first, I thought I was never going to get better. I thought I could never be helped and I was just meant to suffer for the rest of my life. The program works IF YOU LET IT WORK. It takes hard work and dedication and lifestyle changes, but it can be done. The staff is amazing and so supportive and caring, but they know when to push you and be strict and on your case. It will work for you if you want it to work!

I went there when I was 13. The staff was demeaning, particularly the psychiatrist. When she asked me about my symptoms, I told her my anxiety was worsening. She then proceeded to ask me if it was because "i didn't get my way." They will manipulate anyone who goes there. If you are considering going there, I can tell you right now that they will certainly diagnosis you with either ADHD or ODD, probably both. Literally all of the fourteen kids who started out with me had these diagnosis, and I was only in for ptsd and anxiety issues. When I sat next to this girl who was new, she and I began to talk while we waited for our rides, and then the therapists all came into the waiting room and sat right next to us staring at us. When i asked what was going on, one of them said "we know you two are exchanging personal information, and we can't let you two sit next to eachother" , which was entirely untrue. Oh, and one of the MHA's called me a smartass, which I still maintain is grounds for a malpractice suit. In the end, I just refused to show up. They of course called dyphus on me, but the dyphus officer agreed with me that it was a good idea for me to not go. I still have really bad nightmares from the whole experience, and quite frankly this has only screwed me up worse.

They're unprofessional as they do not seem to communicate with each other well. Psychiatrist there is *poor* in my judgement, and seems to have god complex/altitude that put myself on the defense. Poor body language time and time again, makes one feel inferior and that you are a nuisance in my case keeps her answers to one or two word. Attempts of insistency on gaining information about the med's she is giving me ,results in a condescension tone, and one word answers . If it was not for Dawn, the nurse there, most of the clients would not have any information on there med's. The groups start late, and you will on avg. lose 5-15 minutes per class . That is because is just for the therapists being late or letting the group run over in time, and another trying to get back on schedule. To make matters worse, if you wish to count the time we are delayed for clients being late ,then it goes up even more. I do not feel, as a paying client, it is my place to police them. It was suggested we call out the people who text on there phone, come in late chronic ,sleep though groups. I am sorry, spending that kind of money out of pocket to be told its my problem to have to deal with is wrong in so many ways. It has been like for some time apparently, and was supposed to be addressed, I have yet to see it. This was out of pock it for me, so I am very disappointed in there approach to fix this matter. Also note, they will not credit you for the time lost due to the above mentioned. One can however ask there therapist for additional time when they move from a full day to a half day. I feel most of them would do this, as people the therapists in my view are effective, and unlike other reviews, I think they do care. Just need more structure and perhaps better management. Over all, I would seriously say ,look around 1st. Do some research on them and see if problems above mentioned have been addressed,or ask them point blank.

Very disorganized. Very rude. Psychiatrist there is a complete bitch. She gives you all of five minutes when you're in with her and doesn't even know what she's talking about. She argued with me that my medication was only available in XR form when I'M TAKING TABLETS. TABLETS ARE NOT EXTENDED RELEASE, idiot. She puts you down and acts like she's ~god~. The clinicians there don't really care about you. They never call when they tell you they will. They're unprofessional, rude, disorganized, and don't care. All they want is your money. I haven't changed or made any progress and I've been attending for a month now. I sit there all day and learn nothing. I get nothing out of the program at all. It's sad because when I first went for an assessment I was very hopeful.

I attended this IOP program and it was very helpful. Unfortunately at the time, the crowd kept getting larger and the room stayed small and it was crampy most of the time. But they did what they were supposed to do (drug screens, counseling, group therapy and individual) and always kept an open mind. Diane was my favorite. Bottom line about any IOP program, if you don't want to be there and/or you are only seeking their help to appease someone else, it will NOT work out. If insurance covers it, go for it all the way and you will be grateful you did.

After 4 days I was told to check into an inpatient facility for 21 days or leave. I left to go to another out patient program. They contacted DYFS. They took a bad situation and made it even worse.

I was in the room when they where having a conference and My doctor along with Leslie and Tom and Chris where singling peopling out like they where animals and talking bad about them. In groups especially the heavy set older black lady where acting mean towards me and the others and where offering no support whatsoever and on the flip side they where judging us or me and treating me like crap. They wouldn't let me talk and where telling me"I swear to be quite." The indian doctor young lady was talking bad about the patients like I or we where below them. Dr. Bauer and Leslie and Micheal treated me like I was insane and where changing the story around and trying too throw me into inpatient for no reason...I know my rights and the IV Ammendment thats pretty scary I was the best guy there was and was trying too help as much as I can but they where getting off on misdiagnoses and bad treatment too good kids. Abuse of authority. There liscences should be taken away for there lies and the place should close down for malpractice..I have an AA degree in liberazl arts with a 3.2 and a degree from the Department of Labor. I have been working in construction for 8 years now.. These guys are hacks and its a malpractice and if I can sue I will because its scary too do this too good American Citizens. I will proceed to find out who i may talk too too see justice is served. They weote down that I was saying things that i wouldn't even dream up of saying..Isn't that wrong. I pay this tribute to Dr. Tom Bauer, Michel, Leslie, My personal doctor i think her name was Dr. Faroush especially, and the whole staff. Thats insane for them too treat the patients as they do and snap at them/me "Micheals the worst" and change around my words so they can put me into there diagnosis or a mental institution after only 5 days.. 5 days. 5days. Pretty scary when you go for help and it turns into a nightmare..I may consider pressing charges an a legitamate taxpayer an consumer with 2 degrees and 15 years sobriety..Thank you for listening too me. Ridiculou. Insurance wont cover their services and I couldnt afford $7000. Do not think of teens first. Instead of offering 3 hour program say cant help if we dont do 6 hour program. Isnt some help better than none at all?

We're looking for outpatient care for our 23 year old son who is struggling with alcohol and marijuana abuse. He is also been taking medication for anxiety and depression. As he is currently working in Manhatten, we were hoping for a program in the evenings that would address his issues. I would like to know if anyone has feedback about the High Focus Centers or any other outpatient facility.
