Drugs are being passed around on the inside. Patients are allowed to leave on the 1st or 2nd day to go to the mall to shop and are not checked when re-entering the facility. Addiction is a multi-faceted, complicated disease. All patients should be assessed by a psychiatrist and seen by a medical doctor upon entering (as most addicts have neglected their health.) Many addicts have co-concurring psychiatric disorders. The patient I know who's there has yet to see a psychiatrist although he has a history of psychiatric disorders and hospitalizations. This patient will be at Harbor Light for about 2 months and has valid health issues that need to be addressed. The patient was told that they could be medically discharged. I understand that he can't have surgery unless he's medically discharged. He has asked to be seen for an office visit, blood work, etc... to start a healthy life and address an issue that wasn't taken care of previously. (Which only requires one office visit.) I was told he's not being denied medical care. If he's continuing to ask to see a doctor and being told the only way to do it is to be discharged, that's being denied. This is someone who needs extensive psychiatric help, medical care, job assistance, needs help learning basic life skills, and will ultimately need a caring caseworker to assist in finding him an apartment. Unfortunately, I don't feel they have the resources for addicts that also need extensive psychiatric care and life skills assistance.

This place is joke. If you want rehab, go to a credible rehab facility. Drugs of all kinds are more easily gotten from this drug infested institution. People in their treatment program are mostly there at the government expense, they do nothing to help you get off of the dope, they keep you there at any expense to keep the federal and state dollars rolling in. My child was there and within 10 minutes being assigned to his room, he was getting high on heroin. He watched another person overdose his first night there, any many nights thereafter there were constant EMS arrivals to take away the overdose victims that occurred at Harbor Lights. He wanted to get clean, but could not, when he asked to be sent back to jail. They would not violate him even though he continually tested positive for opiates, all while in their drug infested-flop house, they are more interested in fleecing the taxpayers than providing legitimate rehab treatmeant. This place should be closed, it is nothing but a government sponsored drug house.
