I am writing about the care of my 84 yr. old father. The ER care was very good. During one of our visits there was blood on the floor and feces on the cammode that was in the hospital room. My father was to be released from the hospital on a Friday where he was to go next door for rehabilitation. He was to go to radiology in the AM to have a "pick line" put in before he left the hospital. At 2:15 I received a call from the hospital stating that this procedure was still not done and that the hospital van was "done" for the day... at 2:15! She said she could try to call an outside ambulance to transport him, but it would cost more money. She then said the other option was for the family to do the transporting ourselves. I explained the difficulty of this with my mother being 83 yrs old., and I'm disabled, and she apologized saying that there were no other options, and being that it was Friday, there was no van service over the weekend, but that someone would help get my father in to the car for us and help get him out of the car at the rehabilitation facility. So my point is that the doctor already released him and things are not taken care of. I called the hospital numerous times to make sure that everything is all right and make sure things are all taken care of just to find out that THIS is the BEST that they can do. What if I was not home to receive the phone call, my mother would not have been able to have handled this on her own, and I am writing this at 3:00 pm still not knowing when I have to leave to go try to transfer my father.
